The central section of Tynemouth station, a Grade II listed building, has now been fully restored. By filling in part of the two bays, the concourse has been opened up as a major events space and is used for markets, arts events, theatre and exhibitions. This view looking south in June 2012 shows the infilled north bay. The two platform edges are clearly visible.
