October 1970 sees the station deserted and the footbridge showing signs of the lack of maintenance by the LMR that was apparent along the line.

A WR Wednesbury Central Totem with Central having been painted over as was the LMR practise with the stations it had inherited from the WR. This example was seen on the Wolverhampton bound platform in October 1970.

The only shelter available to the travelling public was on the Wolverhampton platform and comprised of the WR brick built shelter; hardly comforting if you were travelling in the Birmingham direction.

Looking in the Wolverhampton direction along the up (Birmingham direction) line in 1971. The station, along with others along the route, probably became a place where you wouldn't want to be travelling to and from in the dark although this was probably part of the LMR plan.
