Another view of the D1 and set 277 at Westerham on the final day of service, 28 October 1961. This view is taken from a point adjacent to the water tower and site of former engine shed. Looking towards the end of the line, the goods shed is visible in the distance. The D1 has run around its train and is awaiting departure. A number of wagons are present on the left and would soon be cleared from the branch. When this was done is not known but a locomotive could have been sent down the branch for this purpose late the same day after conclusion of the passenger service. As explained elsewhere, under normal circumstances the locomotive from the final passenger train of the day would leave its coaches in the station and work the goods train from the branch but this arrangement would not have applied on the final day.
