Disused Stations: Widnes South Station

Joseph Robinson, a Widnes resident and a goods train guard for the LNWR, was a keen amateur photographer. He took this picture of Widnes Station staff and a train crew in the early years of the 20th century. The picture was taken on the south side of the line at the foot of the embankment directly below the westbound platform. An access road led up to the platform on this side of the line and it can be seen in the bottom left corner of the picture.
