![]() Station Name: YARMOUTH SOUTH TOWN
![]() South Town station building in July 1976 when in use by an offshore oil and gas exploration company. It is perhaps surprising that the station name remained in situ after closure and one wonders if anybody was fooled by it and thought that they could still catch a train. Photographs taken after closure suggest that the clock carried on working, but then it was probably an electric (synchronous) clock so unless deliberately disconnected it would have done. On the right stands a former BR 'door to door' container (the brand name was styled in lower-case lettering) with relevant logo of which part can only just be discerned. Its colours varied according to background and the logo also appeared on the BR road vehicles used to deliver containers to and from customers when, in the days of yellow road vehicles, it was black and red.
