![]() Station Name: YARMOUTH SOUTH TOWN
![]() An undated view of South Town station building and forecourt, probably taken just before closure as the 'To The Trains' sign is still present on the wall to the right. Slightly amusing is that the sign is pointing to the grounded goods van body. On the left and behind the railings one of the tracks which had led across the road to the goods yard can just be discerned, defunct since January 1967. The new paving slabs mark where the pavement had been made good following removal of the level crossing. The Entry sign still stands on the right but the end of the wall adjacent to it has received a clout. The cars are a mix of British and foreign types. From the left, a Rover P6 and from the badging and lack of bumper over-riders it is a 2000 TC. 'TC' was 'Twin Carburettor' and the badge was stylised with the TC above the 2000. The P6 was arguably the last 'proper' Rover, the company having been swallowed-up by British Leyland during the production run. The very last Rover P6, referred to as the last 'official' P6, VVC 700S, is still in existence. Next we have two rear-engined cars. The first is an NSU, registration number DCL 376D which tells us the car was first registered in April 1966 in Norwich. Its age thus means it is an NSU 'Typ 110', rebranded the following year to the simpler '1200'. 'Typ' is correct and not a misspelling, NSU being German. The next car is a Renault 8. Next to the Renault and with its nose up in the air is a Wolseley 1500, the less well appointed version of the Riley One-Point-Five. Beside the 'To The Trains' sign and largely hidden is what looks like a Ford Zephyr or Zodiac MkIII. More in view is a Mini Van, a Mini saloon, a Volkswagen Beetle (another rear-engined car) and a Ford Cortina MkI.
