![]() Station Name: YARMOUTH SOUTH TOWN
![]() The interior of South Town station building sometime during the period BR rented the building out. This view is looking towards the forecourt but at the inner wall from the concourse. The arch which is home to a water heater had been a window in the rear of the original ticket office. It was bricked-up in 1952 when a modern, for the time, ticket office was constructed beyond the doorway largely obscured on the right. The spot where the water heater stands was once occupied by a tobacco kiosk. The suspended lighting was likely of railway origin, as was probably the 'Private' sign on the door although this door had been, pre-1952, one of the public doorways from the booking hall. The white lines were post railway and to segregate storage and movement areas although this does not appear to have been
rigidly adhered to. Photo from John Mann collectio ![]()
