Cirencester Town station and surroundings c1973 after closure and before removal of canopy and platform. The photographer was south of the station building, probably on the site the present Hammond Way. The goods shed has been demolished.

A view c 1973 looking north under the platform canopy and showing the ground floor of the original building. The door to the right leads into a passageway that provided a link for passengers between the original booking office (in the original single storey building) and the platform. It is on the southern end of the remaining three-storey building,

A c1973 view of the station frontage, at this time the station forecourt was in use as a car park. Of the vehicle registration numbers visible, the newest is 'K' (the Mk III Cortina on the right) which was issued in 1971. The cars on the right are, starting farthest from camera Austin A30, Mini MkII, Ford Cortina MkIII, Hillman Hunter, BMC 1100. The cars on the left are: Unknown (looks like a Ford rear end) Ford Zodiac MkII, Mini estate, Triumph Herald, Unidentified, Ford Zephyr 4, Unidentified but possibly a Hillman Husky.

View c 1973 looking south through the Somerford Road/Querns Hill bridge over the former railway. The town bypass is being constructed. The partly constructed bridge taking Somerford Road across the new bypass can be seen through the old bridge.

In 1973 planning permission was given for the use of the station forecourt as a bus station.
